Jumping For Jesus

25January2012

My 2 year old loves the water.  She would spend days swimming if we let her.  And, in every good sense of the phrase, she is a hand full—I love it!  But, during our recent time down south, it became apparent very quickly that we would have to enforce and train little miss Emery.  So, with her little floaty on, we showed Emery how to get out of the water at the steps, the path to walk, and the mark to where she could safely and freely jump into the pool.  And so, for 15 minutes we trained Emery, walked with her, showing her the ropes, ensured her safety, and restricted her from jumping in at any other spot than the mark that we determined.

And it worked!  As we trained and walked along side Emery, she learned her boundaries; she learned safety; and she had a ball.  The girl wouldn’t stop making laps to jump into the pool.  And every time she returned to the same spot, counted to three, and jumped in.  (And, for the record, I give all the credit to my wife!)

Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray. Proverbs 22:6

How are you training and being trained to always return to the pool of God’s grace?

How are you training and being trained to walk the path of faith with Christ today?

How are you passing your faith on to your loved ones as you experience life with Jesus together?

Maybe equipping faith and training my daughter to jump in the water aren’t all that different.

What have you done today to train yourself or someone else to plunge into the joy of Jesus?
